![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When profits were good for EA for their other franchises (Fifa, battlefield, the sims etc) then they could let it slide. SimCity was, as far as I know, never as profitable as the mainseries sims games. So, I guess it's one thing if people are just genuinely hoping Paralives or whatever else will be a better game than the Sims (though I can't imagine what people might be judging that on), and I'm no EA cheerleader or on their payroll or anything, but if the hope is that competition will force EA to pull out their A game for Sims 5, I'm just wondering how people reconcile their response to Cities Skylines with that hope. I don't get updates about SimCity or EA generally so maybe I've missed a lot, but that franchise seems to be dead. And as far as I know, EA just kind of let it happen? I mean it's been 10 years and I haven't heard of any new Sim City games being developed, which sucks bc while Cities Skylines might have some better features, I actually much preferred the SimCity franchise. Okay I know this might be a bit OT in that Cities Skylines is a competitor to SimCity, not The Sims.īut people keep bringing up Paralives or other as-yet-nonexistent life simulation games like it's release is what'll finally kick EA into high gear and make them start creating good content again, rather than coasting on crap because they know they're the biggest/only name in the market when it comes to life sim games.Īnd while that idea is sound in theory, I'm just wondering why everyone's so convinced of it? Because I remember Sim City 2013 being garbage, and then Cities Skylines came out and basically stole SimCity's fanbase as a whole from EA bc CS functioned so much better than 2013. ![]()
